Terms of use
Last changed 27 October 2026
In short: GAP IT helps you plan trips; you book them yourself, with whoever you choose. Dreamer is free. Paid plans renew until you cancel, and you can cancel any time; without a plan, your trips are kept safe but locked until you choose one again. Your trips and photos are yours. Scout’s suggestions are suggestions: check before you rely on them.
Who we are
GAP IT is made and run by Fill The Gap Limited, a New Zealand company (NZBN 9429047576636). In these terms, “we” and “us” means Fill The Gap Limited, and “you” means the person using GAP IT. You can reach us at hello@gapit.app.
By making a GAP IT account or using GAP IT, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Your account and your household
- You need to be 16 or older to make an account, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.
- Give your real email address and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
- An account belongs to a household. Everyone in a household sees the household’s trips, and its owner can change them. Only invite people you’re happy to share them with.
- People you invite to a trip see the stops you share with them, and can add to them.
Plans and paying
- Dreamer is free.
- Planner and Traveller are paid plans, monthly or yearly. One plan covers your household. Prices are shown in GAP IT before you choose, in New Zealand dollars including GST.
- Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or keep your card number.
- A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time in GAP IT (Account, then Manage plan). Your plan keeps going until the end of the time you’ve paid for. Then your household moves to Dreamer: your saved clips and dream board stay open, and your trips are kept safe but locked (you’ll see their names and cover photos) until you choose a plan again. Nothing is deleted unless you ask us to delete it.
- If we change a price, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, at your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
- Some features have fair-use limits, such as how many times you can ask Scout in a year. GAP IT shows these where they apply. “No trip limit” means fair use, not unlimited use.
Refunds
We don’t refund part of a month or year when you cancel: your plan simply runs to the end of the time you’ve paid for. If you were charged by mistake, or something went wrong, email hello@gapit.app within 30 days and we’ll put it right. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
Booking and other companies
- GAP IT doesn’t sell travel. When you book a place to stay, a flight or anything else, you book it with that company, on its terms. We’re not part of that booking.
- GAP IT opens searches on Booking.com and other sites for you. Some of these are affiliate links: if you book, we may earn a commission from that company, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what GAP IT suggests.
- Clips you save stay on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or wherever they came from. GAP IT keeps the link and what the platform says about the clip.
Emails
We email you what your account needs, such as sign-in codes, receipts and news about your trips and plan. News from GAP IT, and offers from travel partners matched to your trips, only come if you say yes, and you can stop them at any time. See our privacy policy.
Scout and suggestions
Scout uses AI to read the trips you describe and to suggest stops, ways to travel and things to do. It can be wrong. Opening times, prices, travel times, visas, safety and anything else that matters should be checked before you rely on it. You decide what goes in your trip.
Your trips, photos and clips
- What you put in GAP IT is yours. You let us keep it, show it to the people you share it with, and make the copies GAP IT needs (such as smaller copies of photos and slide shows), only to run GAP IT for you.
- Only add photos, videos and words you have the right to share.
- Photos and videos are kept as viewing copies, sharp on a phone or a TV, not for enlarging or printing. Keep your originals in your usual photo storage. A video’s original is kept for 60 days after the trip ends, then only its viewing copy.
Using GAP IT fairly
Don’t use GAP IT to break the law, to harass anyone, to share what isn’t yours, or to try to get into other people’s accounts or our systems. Don’t make accounts automatically or in bulk. We may suspend or close an account that does.
If something goes wrong
We work hard to keep GAP IT running and your trips safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Keep your own copies of bookings you can’t travel without.
As far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for losses that come from relying on GAP IT, from bookings made with other companies, or from GAP IT not being available. If we are responsible, the most we’ll pay is what you paid us in the 12 months before. If you use GAP IT for a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn’t apply.
Ending
You can stop using GAP IT whenever you like. To close your account and delete your trips, email hello@gapit.app from the email you joined with. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in GAP IT or by email before the change applies. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
